Coyote Hill industrialization
The City of Palo Alto approves a subdivision that permits industrial development on Coyote Hill — an area with considerable open space value.

Committee for Green Foothills files a lawsuit against the City on the grounds that the subdivision procedures are illegal — and that two council members have a conflict of interest. After two years of negotiations, a settlement is made out of court. Open space easements are granted by Stanford, one for 20 years and another for 51 years on the Page Mill side of Coyote Hill. Industrial uses are allowed in areas out of sight.
