Open Space Authority
seeking citizen advisors

Posted August 30, 2005

The Santa Clara County Open Space Authority is seeking volunteers to serve on its Citizen's Advisory Committee.

Similar to the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, the Santa Clara County Open Space Authority is an independent special district formed by the State Legislature to help preserve, protect and manage urban and non-urban open space in the areas of Campbell, Milpitas, Morgan Hill, San Jose, and Southern Santa Clara County.

The Open Space Authority is governed by a seven-member elected Board of Directors , and has protected more than 10,000 acres of open space.

About the Citizen's Advisory Committee
The Citizen's Advisory Committee (CAC) meets monthly to provide input to the Board of Directors on policy and help educate the public about the Authority's goals and accomplishments.

CAC members are appointed by the Board and serve for two-year terms. Seven positions are now open: four Interest Group Representatives — Business, Education, Parks, and Civic Organizations; and three District Representatives — District 5, District 6, and District 7. District boundaries are shown on this map and described here.

Who can apply
Candidates must reside within the boundaries of the OSA and have relevant experience; District Representatives must live within the district they wish to represent.

For more information, position descriptions and application forms, visit the Open Space Authority website.

We encourage interested CGF members to apply. This is a great way to participate in your public open space!
