Support parks funding
in Santa Clara County
Posted August 19, 2005

Background

What you can do

Next Tuesday, the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors will consider whether to endorse continued dedicated funding for the acquisition and maintenance of County parks.

Please join CGF in asking the Supervisors to pass a Resolution of Support for a Park Charter Measure, and continue to provide a stable funding base for parks.

Background
For more than 30 years in Santa Clara County, voters have provided dedicated charter funding for County parks. This stable resource base has allowed the County to maintain and acquire new parks to serve a growing population. Voters clearly support parks, and have renewed the charter multiple times by large majorities.

What's happening
The current parks charter expires in 2009, but in order to allow multi-year advance planning, park supporters have begun efforts to renew the charter next year.

The Committee for Green Foothills supports these efforts, and we have asked the Board of Supervisors to pass a resolution in support of the efforts for a new Charter Measure. It's important for the Supervisors to hear from those of us who support parks funding.

Re: Agenda Item #21
Resolution of Support for a Park Charter Measure

Please send a copy of your message to CGF so we can track our efforts on this issue: fax 650-968-8431 or email: action@GreenFoothills.org.

A side note: CGF members may know that we are also working hard to provide funding for parks in San Mateo County, which does not have a dedicated funding source. You can learn more about that effort here.

Please speak up for Santa Clara County parks. Your voice does make a difference!
