Join Committee for Green Foothills for a fun and educational tour of farms right here in Santa Clara Valley.
This year’s inspirational event takes us to an urban school and to community farms, where we’ll meet local educators and agents of change, hear their stories and hope for the future, and enjoy fresh-from-the-field delights.
Tickets include transportation, tours and talks from local experts, a catered lunch, and wine tasting. Our buses will leave from the Peninsula Conservation Center in Palo Alto at 9am and will return by 4 pm for a special wine tasting from Vino Locale.
Collective Roots
Our first stop will be the inspiring hands-on garden of nonprofit Collective Roots at East Palo Alto Charter School. While we enjoy muffins and coffee, we’ll learn about food system change, the school food revolution, and a vision for open space in East Palo Alto.
Full Circle Farm
Next is a tour of the 11-acre sustainable farm and school garden at Full Circle Farm in Sunnyvale. The farm and the school garden should be in full bloom, and we’ll savor some of their just-harvested organic produce.
Emma Prusch Farm Park
We’ll then head to Emma Prusch Farm Park, an incubator of urban farming projects and community gardens in East San Jose, the heart of the Valley of Heart’s Delight. We’ll have a personalized tour of the historic 87-acre property, after which we’ll enjoy a California-grown lunch catered by Buck’s Restaurant of Woodside. During lunch, we’ll learn about Veggielution, a student urban farming project.
Vino Locale
On our return to the Peninsula Conservation Center, a special treat awaits: Randy Robinson, owner of Vino Locale in Palo Alto and leader of the South Bay Convivium of Slow Food USA, will pour and tell stories of the wines.
Registration and Tickets
Tickets are $65 for CGF members and $85 for non-members. Tickets include transportation, tours and lectures from local experts, a catered lunch, and wine tasting. Tickets for the wine tasting only (3:30-5:00 p.m.) are $20.
All tickets must be purchased in advance. Space is limited - register today!
