Treated wastewater: Where, how, why?
Do the benefits outweigh the risks?
Thursday, October 2, 2003 7- 9 pm
Miramar Lodge Conference Center, Half Moon Bay
Directions
This event is over, but a videotape is
available in the Acterra
Environmental Library.
Using treated (or recycled) wastewater for irrigation
and other water needs is becoming increasingly attractive as we draw down
fresh water supplies.
How can we make the best use of our diminishing resources? What's safe
and appropriate? What are the sources of contention and how can we resolve
these conflicts?
San Mateo County Supervisor Rich
Gordon will moderate a panel discussion representing various perspectives
on the common uses and management practices for treated wastewater, including
health and safety concerns.
Panelists include Bob Holden, Water Recycling
Projects Coordinator, Monterey Regional Water Pollution Control Agency;
Larry Kolb, Principal Engineer, SF Bay Regional Water Quality Control
Board; and Eric Rosenblum, Manager, South Bay Water Recycling, San Jose
Environmental Services Department.
The event is free and open to the public; seating is available on a first-come basis. Refreshments will be served.
This forum, the first in a series, is cosponsored
by the San Mateo County
League for Coastside Protection, Save
Our Shores, and the Surfrider
Foundation San Mateo County, and has been made possible in part by
a grant from Peninsula Community
Foundation.
