Come join us in a salute to Wallace Stegner, founding President of CGF, on what would have been his 103rd birthday. We will take a moderate to strenuous 1 hour hike up to Stegner's Bench in Long Ridge Preserve. There we will relax, enjoy the view, and hear readings of some of Stegner's great literary works by long standing CGF members and invited guests. Water and light refreshments will be provided; feel free to bring a packed lunch to fuel your journey. Carpooling is strongly recommended.
Coyote Valley Open Space Preserve - Member Workday
Take this unique opportunity to explore the exclusive Coyote Valley Open Space Preserve, usually closed to the public, and get your hands dirty with Committee for Green Foothills! Come join us on our first ever member workday and experience a taste of what it takes to preserve and protect our natural environment. We will be joining up with Santa Clara County Open Space Authority staff to help with trail maintenance and/or invasive species removal. All equipment will be provided, but bring your own hat and water bottle!
Watershed Tour of Adobe Creek- Register Now!
The Committee for Green Foothills is leading the way with an Adobe Watershed Tour in conjunction with the Shaped by Water exhibit at the Los Altos History Museum. Enjoy an eventful bus tour of the Adobe Creek watershed and enjoy several stops, expert speakers, and lunch. Be prepared for moderate walking.
Register by March 2, 2012: $35, ages 18 and older.

Coyote Ridge Hikes
It's that time again; native wildflowers are blooming and ready to strike a pose for your cameras. Due to popular demand, CGF is hosting two Coyote Ridge Hikes this year! Come join the Committee for Green Foothills and the knowledgeable docents from the Santa Clara County Open Space Authority on this great hiking and viewing!
2nd Annual South Count Earth Day Celebration
Take a mini road trip and head south to enjoy the 2nd annual Earth Day in Gilroy! After a smashingly successful 1st annual event, that drew 2,500 participants, the Committee for Green Foothills is once again teaming up with the South County Earth Day Committee to create a fun educational event for the whole family.
Steelhead Festival
Come join the Committee for Green Foothills at the first annual Steelhead Festival hosted by Coastal Habitat Education & Environmental Restoration (CHEER). Enjoy an afternoon at Christmas Hill Park in Gilroy with the Master of Ceremonies, one of Santa Clara Valley Water District's Directors, Donald Gage and learn about the important role steelhead salmon play in our waters. |
