What You Can Do
 1. Email Cupertino City Councilmembers ([email protected])

2. Join me and speak at the Cupertino City Council Study Session
         Tuesday, February 3, 6:45pm
Community Hall Council Chamber, 10350 Torre Avenue, Cupertino, CA 95014

What’s Happening
As described in our December Action Alert, the City of Cupertino is proposing a Master Plan for the Stevens Creek Corridor, including McClellan Ranch Nature Preserve, Blackberry Farm, and Stocklmeier Ranch. This Master Plan could include proposals for a new swimming pool complex, sports fields, paved roads, and other new development. While we appreciate the importance of urban recreational amenities to a community, they should not be located in this precious wildlife corridor.

Environmental groups have met with city staff to suggest possible modifications to “Alternative C,” the least-destructive of the three alternatives proposed by staff. This “Modified Alternative C” would include restoration of habitat, educational programming, and some limited new unpaved trails and unpaved parking areas to improve public access without disturbing wildlife or impacting habitat.

Why It Matters
This area is not only a vital wildlife migration corridor linking the Santa Cruz Mountains to the valley floor, it is a much-loved park where thousands participate in volunteer restoration efforts and school field trips, and where joggers, bicyclists and families come to enjoy the peace and beauty of nature. In addition, several special-status species are known to utilize this area.

Please tell the Cupertino City Council to choose “Modified Alternative C” for the Stevens Creek Corridor Master Plan.

Thank you for joining me and speaking up.

Sincerely,

Alice Kaufman
