Lennie was a key champion for the Devil’s Slide tunnel. She faced a fortress of public agencies supporting a seven-mile freeway bypass through Montara Mountain and McNee Ranch State Park which would have enabled the sprawling development of the San Mateo County coast. Lennie joined our board in 1968 and ever since she has been a powerful advocate for farms, open spaces, and natural resources. Her expertise and tireless efforts have secured the protection of these places, where wildlife can live and people can enjoy for generations to come.
On the summer solstice, join us to celebrate the epic 40-year campaign that culminated with the Devil’s Slide tunnel and help us unveil a new interpretive panel featuring Lennie Roberts.
We look forward to celebrating Lennie and this special place and hope you will join us. Light refreshments will be provided.
