Explore the Coyote Valley region by bicycle! Join us for a flat 5-mile roundtrip bike ride. For those interested in a longer ride, we are working to secure a tour to guide interested guests on a 7-mile loop exploring more of the Coyote Valley from the Coyote Valley Open Space preserve. Together we’ll learn more about the history, wildlife, water, and agricultural story of this area.
Bring your bike, a helmet, sun protection, 1-2 liters of water, and a bag lunch. You might want to bring cash or card to support Spina Farm Stand too and get some local produce. We’ll provide water and kid-friendly snacks too.
This is a family-friendly event. Committee for Green Foothills’ Executive Director Megan Medeiros will be leading this bike ride with her toddler in tow. San Jose Councilmember Sergio A. Jimenez will be joining us as well!
We’ll start at Spina Farms Produce Stand (corner of Bailey Ave and Santa Teresa Blvd) and take a slow bike ride south to the Coyote Valley Open Space Preserve (off Palm Ave and Santa Teresa Blvd). Wildlife Biologists Tanya Diamond and Ahiga Snyder withPathways for Wildlife will then teach us how to track wildlife. And we’ll do a one-hour BioBlitz. Together we will work to find and identify as many species as we can. Download the free iNaturalist app before the day of if you can. Bring your kids to just have fun exploring this local wonder in San Jose’s backyard.
We’ll then head north to Spina Farmstand and get you back by noon.
