Join Committee for Green Foothills and Redwood City Neighbors United (RCNU) for an evening to learn how sea level rise will impact future developments along the bayshore.
Jeremy Lowe from San Francisco Estuary Institute (SFEI) will discuss the latest research on the likely effects of rising seas in Redwood City and the San Mateo County bayshore. Dan Ponti from RCNU will talk about the Harbor View Project in Redwood City, which is planned for a site in the path of sea level rise and that will result in many impacts to the community, including traffic, air quality and lack of housing. Legislative Advocacy Director Alice Kaufman will talk about the many ways in which sea level rise is an unacknowledged problem, from new construction in areas that will be flooded to a lack of planning for sea level rise at the local level.
Sea level rise is an increasingly serious problem, whether you’re on the coast or further inland, but the more you know, the more you’ll be prepared to think about solutions. So let’s learn together! Help spread the word by sharing our event flyer.
Light refreshments will be provided.
