On February 16, 2021, Green Foothills joined 40 federal, state and local elected officials and 16 other environmental organizations in requesting the Biden administration to withdraw the appeal of the district court’s ruling in our favor against the Trump administration over the Cargill salt ponds.

In 2019, the Trump administration attempted to declare the Cargill salt ponds exempt from the Clean Water Act. Together with three other environmental organizations and the State of California, we sued to block that action, and last October, Judge William Alsup ruled that the Clean Water Act does apply to the Cargill salt ponds. The Trump administration appealed that decision. Now, a coalition of elected officials at the federal, state and local level have joined together to request the Biden administration to withdraw that appeal.
