Please join me in speaking up for public access at Martin’s Beach by this Friday, December 18. On this date the State Lands Commission will be meeting in Sacramento to hear an update on negotiations with Vinod Khosla to reopen access.
What You Can Do
Email the State Lands Commissioners (CSLC.
- include “Item #124 – Martin’s Beach” in the subject line
- let the commissioners know that as a member of the public you are strongly supportive of their mandate to reopen public access.
What’s Happening
Last year, California Senate Bill 968 (Jerry Hill) was passed into law, which requires the California State Lands Commission to enter into negotiations with Khosla to reach an agreement and create a public access road to the beach. The bill provides that if no agreement has been reached by January 1, 2016, the commission may acquire a right-of-way or easement by eminent domain. With this deadline fast approaching, Friday’s meeting is a crucial opportunity to let State Lands Commissioners know how much this issue matters to you.

For over 50 years, Committee for Green Foothills and other activists have worked to ensure that people from all walks of life have access to our public beaches and waterways, especially to the Bay and San Mateo coast. This is a great opportunity for you to be part of these efforts. I hope you will join me.
