Last year we launched the Green Foothills Community Ambassador Program (CAP) to increase awareness of our work in the communities we serve. In just one year, it’s already making a difference. A growing network of dedicated volunteers is helping share our work, build new connections, and broaden our reach across the region. Here’s a look at how the program is taking shape—and where it’s headed next.
Grab Lunch and Yap With CAP
CAP volunteers’ main job is to help staff Green Foothills’ information tables at community events. If you’re interested in learning more about this, and possibly becoming a Community Ambassador yourself, please join us on Sunday, March 8 for a “Yap with CAP” lunch gathering at our offices in Palo Alto. RSVP required. This is an opportunity to learn about CAP, meet some of the current Community Ambassadors, and hear from Green Foothills advocates about some of our most impactful campaigns and current efforts. We’ll provide lunch! If you’re interested in becoming a Community Ambassador and would like to attend the Yap with CAP gathering, please email me at [email protected].
CAP in Action Across the Community
In 2025, our Community Ambassadors participated in 10 tabling events. These included the Earth and Arbor Day Festival in Cupertino, the San Mateo County Community College District Earth Fest, the San Benito County Earth Day Celebration, the Earth and Arbor Day Celebration in Mountain View, the Love Our Earth Festival in Palo Alto, three Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful BioBlitz events, and the Santa Clara Valley Bird Alliance Wildlife Fair. Each event created opportunities to connect with new audiences, share our advocacy efforts, and invite more people into protecting the landscapes we all love and depend on.
Thank you to the Community Ambassadors who volunteered at these events: Lizbeth Amador, Kimberly Meade, Susan Michael, Nicole Moutoux, and Jim Petkiewicz. Their willingness to donate their time and bring their heart to each tabling helped bring many new faces into our Green Foothills network.
Where Passion Meets Purpose
For many ambassadors, the program is more than just tabling, it’s about connection and collective impact. As Community Ambassador and Green Foothills donor Kimberly Meade told us, “Volunteering with Green Foothills lets me connect with others, share my love of nature, and make a local impact. I’m passionate about protecting our environment and inspiring others to join the movement, because together, we can create change!” Her words capture the spirit of this program — individuals coming together to protect the places we all cherish.
We also welcomed three additional ambassadors who have completed training and are prepared to table in the future: Kai Fletcher, Aishwarya Prem Renu, and Adeline Shen. Together, this growing group reflects the diversity, passion, and commitment that drives our mission forward.
Our Community Ambassadors are mission amplifiers. When they table at events and connect with the community, they bring new energy and lived experience that strengthen how we show up in the region.
We are grateful to every ambassador and we are excited to see how the program continues to grow.
