This week I was sitting down for tea with Karen Grove, a Menlo Park resident and community leader, sharing information about our reimagined Community Advocates Leadership Academy (CALA). At the end of this conversation she generously decided to put up a $20,000 match to ensure this program launches in January 2020. Founded in 2013 with an alumni network of 200+ graduates, we have reimagined the CALA program to grow a powerful force for the environment and equity in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. CALA is important because our region needs a larger, more diverse base of civic leaders who are working across sectors for the natural environment.
