We are thrilled to announce the winners of the Green Foothills 2025 Photo Contest! Many outstanding entries were submitted this year and it was, as usual, difficult for the judges to choose. Congratulations to Amanda Newlove, Leslie Cavaliere, and Janet Rae-Dupree – this year’s winners!
Thank you to everyone who entered the contest for sharing your images with us. We are very grateful to everyone who participated.
The Winning Photos
First-place winner Amanda Newlove submitted a striking image of a coyote in Santa Teresa County Park. Our judges loved how the photo beautifully captures the spirit of this adaptable, intelligent, and resourceful species. The first place prize is $100 in Carrot Cash to be used at any farmers’ market operated by Pacific Coast Farmers’ Market Association (PCFMA), and an annual subscription to Bay Nature Magazine.

In second place is Leslie Cavaliere’s vibrant and colorful image of a swallowtail butterfly perched on a flower at Edgewood Park and Natural Preserve. She will receive a Green Foothills Swag Bag and a $75 Mike’s Camera gift card.

In third place is Janet Rae-Dupree’s enchanting sunset at Miramar Beach in Half Moon Bay. She will receive a $25 Sports Basement gift card and a warm Green Foothills hat for windy days at the beach.

Honorable Mention
Among the entries receiving honorable mention, we want to highlight Tina Baine’s serene, dreamlike image of green hillsides on Aromitas Road in Aromas, San Benito County. San Benito is a relatively new area of involvement for Green Foothills and this was the first year we included that region in the Photo Contest.

Also receiving honorable mention are entries from Ambarish Goswami, Anandi Lakshmikanthan, Ben Holzer, Bill Collins, Carolyn Straub, Faviola Bataz, Gato Rivera, Geri Weitzman, Hartono Sutanto, Ismayil Guracar, Jere Henderson, John Davey, Julie Cardena, Karen Maor, Kevin Costello, Louis Cavaliere, Marise Zimmermann, Maryam Maskatia, Niha Madhulika, Parham Pourahmad, Patrick Lundquist, Steven King, Steve Zamek, Susan LeClair, Victoria Mantler, and Zhiyuan Xu.
Each photo entry truly brought our local natural world to life. All the images that you sent in will help us advance our mission to protect local nature and farmland, and will inspire more people to get involved. THANK YOU! We hope to see you for our next photo contest!
A special thank you to Pacific Coast Farmers’ Market Association and Sports Basement Sunnyvale for donating prizes.
