Biography

Larry England is a lifelong advocate for the outdoors and a committed supporter of environmental conservation. Originally from Chicago, Larry’s journey has taken him through New York, Oregon, and Germany before settling in Morgan Hill, California. His deep appreciation for nature and alignment with Green Foothills’ mission to champion open space, wildlife, and climate resilience is rooted in decades of personal outdoor experiences and a strong belief in environmental stewardship.

A retired software engineer with nearly 50 years of experience, Larry brings a thoughtful, data-informed perspective to his advocacy. He has witnessed firsthand the impacts of irresponsible land use and the dismissal of science-based evidence of climate change—experiences that have fueled his passion for preservation.

Larry is also an avid trail ultrarunner and former race director of the Ohlone Wilderness 50K, reflecting his dedication to giving back to the trail running community. Beyond his environmental work, he serves on the board of Hi5-USA, a nonprofit supporting over 4,000 underprivileged children in India through basketball and life skills programs.

Through Green Foothills, Larry is committed to protecting the natural beauty and biodiversity of Northern California and ensuring these landscapes remain vibrant and accessible for future generations. In his free time, he enjoys hiking local parks and exploring his passion for amateur photography.
